Kinetik~flo, a five-piece smooth jazz, funk and soul band, was formed in January of 2005. It was at that time when keyboardist, Vincent Tyson was asked by a close friend in the industry to participate in a Tsunami Relief Benefit Concert in aid of the victims of Indian Ocean tsunami disaster of December 2004. He decided he did not want to perform solo nor to a track. So he asked a few friends if they would accompany him in this endeavor. They came together and prepared what they considered to be a few “quality but simple” smooth jazz and R&B selections. On February 12, 2005 at the Dazzle Theater in Rochester, New York they performed before a lively and ultimately inspirational crowd. This performance was originally intended to be a “one and done” type of deal. However, due to the overwhelming response and encouragement of the audience to stay together and keep making their unique sound, they decided to continue on and make their music all that it could be.
Kinetik~flo is on the move and have been performing primarily in the northeast region. They have created a following of music lovers from all walks of life and age groups. Their style, repertoire and versatility has enabled them to entertain and delight audiences in many diverse settings such as festivals, night clubs, coffee shops, universities, public and private schools, and even churches. They bring to their audience the perfect blend of jazz, soulful ballads and unwrapped funk
Kinetik~flo is Barry Dean (drums), Carlton Wilcox (bass guitar), Deepak Thettu (guitar), Joel Vickers (saxophone), and Vincent Tyson (keyboards/vocals)
Together these fine gentlemen and talented musicians form a strong and engaging unit.
They are currently finalizing selections for their debut CD. You definitely expect it to be as electrifying as their live performance. For sure It will be uniquely and wonderfully “kinetik!”
